SUMI 墨 (meaning “charcoal” in Japanese) is our take on an Foreign Export Stout. Sitting at 6.8%, it is no trifle. Bitter cocoa and a touch of fig dominate the nose. The chocolate notes carry onto the palate, blending with burnt caramel and charred fruit. This beer has a huge body, feeling very full on your tongue, which softens the attack. A very assertive bitterness cuts these flavours off near their height, leaving a clean but aggressive finish.
